Eddie Jones’ Lions will play the US Men’s Rugby XVs in their second Pool C match of the 2019 RWC at the Kobe Misaki Stadium in Kobe City on the 26th of Sep, 2019 as from 19:45 local time. England are heavy favorites coming into this game but they will be wary of the Eagles who have been growing from strength to strength in the past few years. Whilst England will be hoping to bag maximum points, a USA win will highly catapult their credentials as an emerging rugby powerhouse on the global stage.

Previous Game Result

England beat USA 28-10 when these two sides previously met in the group stages of the 2007 RWC in Lens, France. Additionally, it is England that has inflicted the heaviest defeat on the Eagles (a 106-8 victory in London in 1999).

Key Players

Eagles and Sale Sharks fly-half AJ MacGinty will be a player to watch in this game as he pulls the strings in the number 10 jersey while Will Hooley will be relishing a clash with his former ‘mates’ having come up in the English Rugby youth ranks. Additionally, Captain Blaine Scully will add pace in the wing as he looks to guide his side to victory over a Tier one side for the first time ever in a world cup match.

England, on the other hand, will be relying on the pace of Joe Cokanasiga and new recruit Ruaridh McConnochie as they look to unlock the American defence in Kobe. Owen Farrell will also be key in this game as the fly-half looks to move on from the 2015 WC blushes.
